You are warmly invited to attend the 8th Annual Conference of the Canadian Association of Nurses in AIDS Care to be held April 27-29 at the Toronto Colony Hotel, Toronto, Canada. HIV Nursing for a New Millennium: Learning from our Past, Preparing for our Future, is the theme for this year's conference and our conference planning team has pulled together an exciting lineup of plenary and workshop presenters. Our conference also provides numerous abstract sessions in which you can learn and share ideas with your colleagues in AIDS care. Nurses and our colleagues in AIDS care from across Canada and indeed, around the world, will have an excellent opportunity to network, learn new skills and share expertise.

Registration:
Registration includes participation in all conference activities as well as attendance at the Awards of Excellence dinner and celebration. Complete the attached registration form and forward with payment (cheque or money order).

$225 for CANAC members; $275 for non-members; $125.00 students (with student card)

Conference Venue:
The Toronto Colony Hotel is the official site of the 8th Annual Conference. Situated in downtown Toronto at 89 Chestnut St., the Toronto Colony is close to excellent restaurants, live theatre and shopping areas. A wide selection of tourist attractions can be reached on foot or by subway.

Accommodation:

Peter Ungvarski, RN, MSN, New York City:
In this opening plenary, Mr. Ungvarski will draw upon his considerable experience in HIV/AIDS care to speak to the challenges and triumphs of HIV nursing in inner city New York.
Dr. Bernard Lapointe, MD, President, Canadian Palliative Care Association:
As an experienced HIV and palliative care physician in Montreal, Dr. Lapointe will speak to the history, the evolving nature of HIV and our varied and creative responses to the epidemic.
Dr. Mary-Ellen Jeans, RN, PhD, Executive Director, Canadian Nurses Association:
As a dynamic and recognized nursing leader, Dr. Jeans will speak about nursing in the next millennium.
Sharon Baxter, MSW, Executive Director, Canadian AIDS Society:
A leader in the HIV/AIDS movement in Canada, Sharon will speak to the HIV/AIDS epidemic from an international perspective including implications for a Canadian response to HIV/AIDS.
Judith Thompson, RN, BSN, Dr. Peter Centre, Vancouver:
Using the curriculum developed for the Canadian Palliative Care Association, Judith will provide an insightful and thought provoking overview of the complex issues facing people living with HIV/AIDS and who use injection drugs.
Evannah Brennan, RN & Susan Giles RN, Vancouver Richmond Health Board:
Evannah and Susan work in the downtown east side of Vancouver and have developed tremendous expertise in HIV/AIDS, substance use and working with those most marginalized. This plenary session will highlight the fascinating and demanding work of nurses in Vancouver's inner city.
